Mingoes falls to Panthers; plays for third-place
The University of The Bahamas women's volleyball team was in a tough battle against the Panthers but fell 2-0 in the semi-final of the Battle of the Islands volleyball tournament at the Eight Mile Rock Gymnasium in Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama.
UB fell 21-20 and 21-9 to play for third-place against GB Hawks.
The first set was a back and forth matchup as UB and Panthers went at it head-on against each other. It was intense as the the first timeout was called when Panthers led 19-18. After the match was tied at 20 points, the Panthers won the next point to win the set 21-20.
UB came out flat in the second set as Panthers led 9-2 early. They went down 13-2 before dropping the set 21-9 to fall to the Panthers 2-0.
UB face the GB Hawks for third-place at 4 p.m. today.
