Mingoes swept by Warhawks as season comes to close
The University of The Bahamas women's volleyball team fell 3-0 in the second game of their best-of-three playoffs series against the Lady Warhawks to lose that series 2-0 in the New Providence Volleyball Association on Friday at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium.
The third-seeded UB fell to the second-seeded Lady Warhawks 25-9; 25-19 and 25-17. UB ended the regular season with a 10-7 win/loss record.
UB's head coach, Raymond Wilson said that he thought his team was ready to win the game.
"When you have key players who - - I don't know if they were nervous or panicked but we should be at the point where we should nto be panicking or nervous," Wilson said. "We have beaten this team int he regular season and we ran them downt ot he wire in the first game. To come out and perform the way that we did is very disappointing."
UB struggled early in the first set as they went down 8-2. It was a struggle for them as they trailed 21-9 before falling 25-9. Lady Warhawks led 1-0 on sets.
It was a better play from UB in the second set as they trailed 8-5 early in that set. The came within two points - 16-14 but did not get any closer as they fell 25-17 to go into a 2-0 hole.
They needed a strong start in the third set going down 8-1. They went down 16-3 as they struggled to get going offensively. They lost that set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
