UB Softball local tryouts wrap up
The University of The Bahamas women's softball team held its second and final tryouts Friday, May 1 as they look to continue rebuilding the team.
Over 30 current Mingoes students came out to the final tryouts as they look to make the roster under new head coach, Yvana McDonald.
She said that it was good and eager group of ladies that came out.
"We had some new faces that came out for this tryout," McDonald said. "There is some raw talent and there are some girls who I believe have the attitude to be present and we can build on that. I am excited to work with those ladies She had the ladies do some batting drills, pitching drills and was able to see how they fare on the field. "I want to build a team that focuses on positivity, encouragement and finding their identity and confidence in their play. I am excited to build that communal space."
McDonald next tryout will be held on Saturday, March 23 at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
