The University of The Bahamas Mingoes women softball team brought out the bats as they secured the first win of the season when they dominated the Cyber Tech Blue Marlins 24-8 in New Providence Softball Association (NPSA) action.
Playing at the Banker's Field at the Blue Hills Sports Complex, the Mingoes saved their best scoring output on the young season by pouring in 15 runs in the third inning to run away with the game.
Shortstop Solana Brown was superb in the win as she finished the game 3-for-4, four runs batted in (RBI), four runs and got a double.
Overall, the Mingoes finished with 14 hits.
Pitching for the first time on the mound this season was Nabria Hamilton who was also the winning pitcher. She was also the leadoff batter and finished 1-for-1 to go with one RBI and four runs.
