Mingoes advance to semis

The University of The Bshamas men's soccer team advanced to the semi-final of the Bahamas Football Association Men's Knockout Cup with a 5-0 won over the Renegades F.C. in the quarter-final on Sunday at the Roscow A.L.Davies Soccer Fields.

UB got the ball rolling in this match with a goal from a header that defender Joshua Johnson put away on a Kevin Thomas' corner kick in the 22nd minute. Alix St. Hilaire joined the scoresheet for the first time this season on a Ronaldo Green assist in the 36th minute to put UB up 2-0.

UB led 2-0 at the half.

Thomas got a goal of his own in the 48th minute of Green's second assist. Reserve forward, Philip Pilgrim found the back of the net five minutes later to put his side up 4-0. Pilgrim scored again in the 64th minute on defender and captain Junior Kelly's pass. UB held on to 5-0 to advance to the semi-finals.

UB will play their semi-final match against Dynamos F.C. at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Fields.
