Mingoes wins 2-1 against Grand Bahama Soccer

The Mingoes dug deep and were able to pull out a 2-1 win against the Grand Bahama Soccer Club amidst the rain at the YMCA Soccer Field on the back end of a back-to-back in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Joshua Johnson was moved from his usual centerback position and was thrust into the forward position. That paid off for head coach Alex Thompson as Johnson put the Mingoes on the scoresheet in the 39th minute on an assist from Ricardo Walkes Jr. The Mingoes led 1-0 and that score remained the same at the half.

The home club pulled a goal back on a penalty-kick in the 55th minute to make it even at 1-1.

The teams were not able to find that go-ahead goal before the 90th minute. Mingoes' Marlon Barnes, who started as a substitute stepped up to kick a free-kick and got the ball in the goal off a deflection on Mingoes' midfielder Ronaldo Green in injury time. Barnes was credited with the goal that sealed his team's victory.

They leave Grand Bahama unbeaten thanks to a 2-2 draw in the first game on Friday.
