Mingoes fall short against Crimestoppers
The UB Mingoes fell short against RBPF Crime Stoppers in an intense matchup with an 88-84 at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium.
The game was closely contested, with both teams showing their skills on both ends of the court. The Mingoes started strong, leading 20-15 at the end of the first quarter and maintaining their momentum through the second, entering halftime down by only two points - 45-33.
Jerehemiah Miller led the Mingoes with an impressive 20 points and seven rebounds, while Erquantae Edgecombe also had a strong performance with 19 points and three rebounds. Gabriel Styles added 15 points and five rebounds to the team's solid scoring, but the Mingoes struggled to maintain defensive intensity in the final minutes.
After the game, UB Mingoes head coach Bacchus Rolle reflected on the team's performance.
"It was an easy-flow game. I thought we played very well in the first three quarters, but when it was time to bear down and play defense with five minutes left in the game, we got relaxed." Rolle said.
Rolle mentioned that the team didn't have the intensity needed in the last five minutes to win the game and hope his team trusts each other more.
The Crimestopperscapitalized on the Mingoes' defensive lapses in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 22-18. RBPF's balanced attack, was led by Cameron Cherry with 22 points and Kirkwood Farrington with 21 points.
Despite the loss, the Mingoes showed flashes of brilliance and will look to regroup to address their defensive intensity and cohesion as they play Nassau Flight Services Ballers on December 12.
