Bio

Simba is an Assistant Sports Officer at the University of The Bahamas since April 2024. He graduated from The College of the Bahamas, now the University of The Bahamas, with a BA in Media Journalism in 2015 and an AA in Mass Communications in 2010.


He spent six years as a sports reporter at the Nassau Guardian newspaper company prior to joining the University Athletics Department. During his time there he covered a vast array of sports disciplines. He has traveled with several CARIFTA swimming and track and field teams. In addition, he has traveled with the Bahamas National Men’s Soccer Team in 2022 and 2023.


He is no stranger to the athletics department having played for the then COB Caribs men’s soccer team as the goalkeeper. He was a part of the inaugural travel team in 2007.


During his down time, he likes to keep up on current events in sports both locally and internationally. He likes to watch live sports. His favorite teams are Chelsea F.C., Miami Heat and the Denver Broncos. During his time at the Nassau Guardian, he became even more passionate about local sports and seeing young athletes excel at their craft.


He is currently serving on the Bahamas Cricket Board as the Public Relations Officer.


Simba is married to Shekia French and have to daughters Simia and Simara.
